Kids Camp

The Best Kids Camp EVER!

If you ask me what the #1 must-have is for another amazing week of Dagger Dive, my answer comes quickly and with zero hesitation.  It is our incredible Kids Camp team!

Yes, the diving is core to the week and the reason why we are all here. Yes, the connections and the healing moments under the water are what bring families back year after year. But let’s be honest—none of that can happen if the parents in the water are constantly worried about where their little ones are and whether they’re okay or not.  Enter Kids Camp!  And it is hands down, one of the most important elements to this entire week.

Trust Makes the Whole Thing Possible

Dagger Dive is a family event—but much of the focus during the week is on getting everyone trained and certified in scuba diving. That means long hours of instruction, practice, and real focus. For families with young kids, this could be a logistical nightmare. How do you ask a parent to put their face in the water, focus on the task at hand, and trust that their child is happy, safe, and cared for somewhere else and with people they have just met?

From the minute families arrive, the Kids Camp volunteers are there—welcoming little ones with open arms, warm smiles, and activities ready to go. Before the parents even finish checking in or getting fitted for gear, their children are already deep into a craft project, games, or meeting Graham (our TFD mascot). That early moment of ease sets the tone for the whole week.

Organized Chaos (the Best Kind)

The first day is always a little bit of beautiful chaos. New faces. New surroundings. Nervous parents. Curious kids. A whirlwind of volunteers buzzing around helping with logistics and gear. But even amid the hustle, the Kids Camp team stands calm and grounded, quick to offer a hand when the littles need to be handed off so they could be fitted into their gear.

Over the course of the week, the Kids Camp volunteers do extraordinary work as they create a safe space where kids can just be kids. That’s a gift for the children—but it’s also a lifeline for the parents.

A Foundation for Healing

Everything that happens during the Dagger Dive is built on a foundation of trust. And the Kids Camp volunteers are a massive part of that foundation allowing parents to be present; to dive deep—literally and figuratively, to focus on themselves, their spouses, their growth. That space is sacred and it wouldn’t exist without this amazing crew.

Stay Tuned
There’s a lot more to share about this week—on land, underwater, and everything in between. Next week, we'll be in the Keys and kicking off the week of Dagger Dive.  I’ll sharing the highlights throughout the week on Facebook and Instagram (hyperlinks below) so as not to overwhelm my blog.  Love for you to join me there for the week of amazing work.

Will continue to share the highlights over the coming week showing how those little connections, both big and small, shape the experience year after year.

If you’ve been part of this event, I hope these stories feel familiar. And if you’re just getting to know Dagger Dive, I think you’ll understand pretty quickly why it means so much to so many.

Don’t be shy—drop a comment or share your own experience. I’d love to hear from you!
